Volantis twirls gem in season debut, Texas sweeps UC Davis

Volantis mowed through the UC Davis lineup, allowing one hit with eight strikeouts in seven innings in a 9-1 Texas win to sweep the Aggies on UFCU Disch-Falk Field. An unearned run crossed the plate in the sixth inning, but he needed just 78 pitches to get through his outing before Michael Winter worked the final two frames.
