Govt reports 8,600+ complaints against sitting judges since 2016

The office of the Chief Justice of India has received over 8,600 complaints against sitting judges since 2016. The highest number of complaints was recorded in 2024. These complaints are handled through an in-house judicial mechanism. The Supreme Court adopted resolutions in 1997 to maintain judicial standards and address misconduct.
