Eighteen-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar, a resident of Tumbler Ridge, has been identified as the suspect in a fatal mass shooting that claimed nine lives, including her own. The victims included students in the school library. She had killed her mother, and stepbrother before unleashing hell inside the school. Police had previously responded to the suspect's home for mental health concerns.
