James Van Der Beek Just Gave Cancer Update in December 2025, Months Before Death

Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek, who died today at the young age of 48, gave an update on his cancer battle just a few months ago in December of 2025.

If you don’t know, in 2023, the 48-year-old was diagnosed with stage three colorectal cancer.

In September of 2025, he missed a Dawson’s Creek reunion and cancer benefit, and fans were concerned about his health. He said he was unable to attend due to stomach viruses.

Today (February 11), his wife Kimberly announced he had passed away at the age of 48.
