Kandahar Fire Leaves Millions in Losses

A fire in Kandahar city damaged property worth millions of afghanis before firefighters contained the blaze, preventing further losses, officials said Wednesday.

Taliban local authorities in Kandahar said a fire in the city’s second district has been brought under control, causing losses estimated at 28 million afghanis.

Police spokesman Asadullah Jamshid said the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit and broke out in a carpet warehouse late Tuesday afternoon.
