Bombay HC cuts rape convict's life term, saying the rapist who sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl wrote essays on Gandhi in jail
The Bombay High Court has reduced a life sentence to 12 years for a man convicted of raping a five-year-old girl in 2016. The court considered his young age at the time of the offense and his reformative efforts in prison. His conviction stands, but the punishment has been adjusted. The man has been in custody since December 2016.
