Marin sex offender charged with new molestation case

A man convicted of raping a girl in Novato in 2019 has been charged with sexually abusing a girl in San Rafael around the same time.

Jose Salgado Manjarrez, 44, appeared in Marin County Superior Court on Monday but did not enter a plea. Judge Kevin Murphy set the plea hearing for March 17.

The alleged crimes happened from about August 2018 to June 2019, according to a complaint filed in December by the Marin County District Attorney’s Office. The victim was younger than 14, the prosecution alleges.
