Mt. Shasta Ski Area Closes, but Feet of Snow Is in the Forecast

Mt. Shasta Ski Park, the humble but beloved ski area tucked in the flanks of California's towering Mt. Shasta, is temporarily closed.

The ski area announced the closure on Monday, February 9, 2026, due to "low snow coverage". Brendan, a representative from the ski area, posed in front of a barren slope to show how hard Shasta's snowpack had been by recent rainfall.
