Internet Archive unveils tool to save the web from dead links
The Internet Archive has released Link Fixer, a new WordPress plugin that automatically handles broken links on the web, reports TechCrunch. The problem—often referred to as “link rot”—causes articles to eventually become filled with dead links that lead to 404 error pages.
According to Pew Research Group, about 38 percent of all web pages that existed in 2013 were “no longer accessible” by 2024. Yikes.
