Finnish Immigration Service pauses part of Iranian asylum decisions
Finland has suspended part of its decision-making on asylum applications from Iranian nationals after a change in Iran’s security situation linked to large protests and the use of force by state security units. The Finnish Immigration Service announced the pause on Thursday and said the measure remains in place until 31 March 2026.
The authority said the suspension applies only to cases that require updated information on conditions in Iran before a ruling is possible. Other applications continue through the normal process.
