Storm Chandra : Why the UK's latest tempest is named after the Hindu lunar god?
Storm Chandra is the third storm named by the Western European group (UK, Ireland, Netherlands) for the 2025/26 season. Named after the Hindu moon god, the name was submitted to the Dutch KNMI and selected by the Met Office to reflect cultural diversity. The naming process is a joint safety initiative designed to improve public awareness and communication during severe weather events.
