Fire service responds to two house fires

Firefighters responded to dozens of incidents across the island over the past 24 hours, including house fires in Aglandjia and Kalavasos that caused property damage but no injuries.

At 4.56am on Wednesday morning, authorities received a report of a fire at a residence in Aglandjia. The blaze was extinguished by the homeowner’s domestic helper before the fire brigade arrived.

The fire originated in a small iconostasis inside the house, causing damage to the structure itself, the icons and the surrounding painted areas.
