US Republican Senator Ted Cruz has called for America to arm Iranian protesters “right now” to help overthrow the country’s ruling ayatollahs.

Cruz wrote on X Tuesday evening that arming protesters could help topple Iran’s leadership, which he says “constantly chants death to America.”

Iran has experienced widespread protests in recent weeks following a severe government crackdown that human rights groups describe as the deadliest since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
