France has right to ban social media for under-15s, EU says
Championed by President Emmanuel Macron, the French bill needs approval from the Senate to become law -- which would make France the second country to take such a step following Australia's ban for under-16s in December. "The French authorities have the right to establish a digital age for their citizens," commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier said, adding that online giants had an "obligation" to "respect the national legislation".
