At Least 18 Dead, Nearly 1 Million Without Power After Massive Winter Storm

The massive winter storm that stretched across most of the continental United States left lingering effects on much of the country as the Northeast gets hit with the tail end of the storm on Monday, Jan. 26.

Over a foot of snow covered a 1,300-mile swath of the country from Arkansas to Maine with local accumulation reaching more than 20 inches of snow in some places. As of Monday morning, more than 800,000 remained without power - mostly in the South where ice buildup from freezing rain caused tree limbs and power lines to snap.
