EU opens probe into X over Grok sexual deepfakes

The European Commission has launched a formal investigation into Elon Musk’s social media platform X over the use of its Grok artificial intelligence tool to create sexualised images of real people, including women and minors.

The probe focuses on whether X breached obligations under the EU’s Digital Services Act by failing to assess and limit the risks linked to Grok after the tool was integrated into the platform and its recommendation systems.
