China ended 2025 with a record $1.2 trillion trade surplus, up 20% from last year, as exports surged despite Trump-era U.S. tariffs.

China recorded a record $1.2 trillion trade surplus in 2025, a 20% increase from the previous year, as its exports expanded despite rising U.S. tariffs, the country’s General Administration of Customs said on Wednesday. Total foreign trade in goods reached $6.48 trillion, marking nine consecutive years of growth.
