Phillies acquire reliever Chase Shugart from Pirates

The Phillies on Tuesday announced that they acquired right-handed pitcher Chase Shugart from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for minor league infielder Francisco Loreto. 

Shugart, 29, pitched out of the bullpen for the Pirates last season, posting a 3.40 ERA in 35 games. He has one minor league option remaining. Shugart was recently designated for assignment by the Pirates.
