Cubs Sign Alex Bregman to Five-Year Contract
The Cubs have signed free agent third baseman Alex Bregman to a five-year, $175 million contract, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Much like former Met Pete Alonso, Bregman signs a long-term contract with a new team after settling for an option-laden contract ahead of the 2025 season. The righty opted out of his deal before this season, and now Bregman will move to the National League after a year in Boston, during which he slashed .273/.360/.462 in 114 games.
