Standards of ethical values higher for lawyers seeking to contest bar polls: SC

The Supreme Court has reinforced higher ethical standards for lawyers. It refused to permit a Telangana lawyer to contest state bar council elections due to pending criminal complaints. The court observed that such individuals should not be allowed to contest. Elected bar council members perform quasi-judicial functions. The Telangana state bar council elections are scheduled to conclude by January 31.
