India sugar export deals gain traction on lower prices, weak currency

Indian sugar mills have contracted exports of approximately 180,000 metric tons this season, driven by recent domestic price corrections and a weaker rupee. Despite government approval for 1.5 million tons, high local prices initially hindered overseas sales. This slower pace of shipments could support global sugar prices, which are near five-year lows.
