Saturn-mass rogue planet revealed in unique new observations

The foreground object bends the light from the distant star (peach-colored arcs), temporarily intensifying that light. Now, astronomers have used instruments both on Earth and in space to detect microlensing from a Saturn-mass rogue planet. And it’s the first time astronomers have been able to measure the mass of a rogue planet. Image via J. Skowron/ K. Ulaczyk/ Ogle/ AAAS/ Peking University.
