Novato jewelry store targeted in armed heist

Police are investigating an armed robbery at a jewelry store in central Novato.

The crime happened at about 5:30 p.m. Monday at Gold Rush Jewelers at 926 Diablo Ave. in the Novato Fair Shopping Center. Four robbers in dark clothing and masks raided the shop as it was about to close, according to the Novato Police Department.

One robber pointed a gun at employees while the others stole merchandise, police said. One robber also used pepper spray. No injuries were reported.
