Nicolas Maduro’s inner circle hit hard as reports cite large number of security team deaths during US raid

Venezuela is experiencing renewed turmoil after a U.S. military operation captured President Nicolás Maduro and reportedly killed members of his security team. Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino denounced the raid, accused U.S. forces of excessive force, and demanded Maduro’s release while affirming his legitimacy. The Supreme Court appointed Vice President Delcy Rodríguez acting president as emergency actions were implemented nationwide.
