2.89 crore voters dropped from UP draft rolls after SIR; 81.3% names retained, says state CEO

Uttar Pradesh has removed 2.89 crore voter names from its draft electoral roll. This represents 18.7 percent of the total electorate. The Election Commission cited deaths, permanent migration, and multiple registrations as reasons for these exclusions. The revision aimed to enhance the accuracy and integrity of the voter database. Over 12.55 crore voters remain in the updated rolls.
