Madras High Court upholds order allowing Karthigai Deepam at Thirupparankundram Deepathoon

The Madras High Court has permitted the lighting of Karthigai Deepam on a stone pillar atop Thiruparankundram hillock. A division bench affirmed a single-judge order, rejecting state government concerns about law and order. The court stated that lighting lamps at elevated spots is a recognized religious practice. It also dismissed claims that the pillar belonged to a dargah.
