Marin flooding causes major 911 service disruption

Flooding in San Rafael caused a widespread telecommunications outage that disrupted 911 service for more than four hours in much of Marin County, the police department reported.

The flooding affected an AT&T hub at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, according to San Rafael police Lt. Scott Eberle. Emergency landline calls were diverted to the Novato Police Department, which was unaffected by the outage.

“The outage affected police department and community members’ landlines, wireless service and intercom systems,” Eberle said.
