Mamata Banerjee lays foundation stone for Rs 1,670-crore bridge to connect Sagar Island

A new bridge, the Gangasagar Setu, will soon connect Sagar Island. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee laid the foundation stone for this Rs 1,670-crore project. The bridge will provide all-weather road connectivity. Currently, ferry services are the only access. This new infrastructure is expected to be completed in two years. It will greatly benefit pilgrims visiting the island annually.
