WPL 2026: Meg Lanning named UP Warriorz captain

Former Australia captain Meg Lanning has been named UP Warriorz captain ahead of the 2026 Women’s Premier League starting January 9. Bought for Rs 1.9 crore, Lanning joins after leading Delhi Capitals in previous seasons. A seven-time World Cup winner, she takes charge as UP Warriorz rebuild after finishing fifth last season. The WPL will be held in Navi Mumbai and Vadodara.
