No. 25 Iowa builds lead, finishes win against UCLA
Bennett Stirtz scored 27 points, and No. 25-ranked Iowa rode a strong start to hold off visiting UCLA's second-half rally effort in a 74-61 decision on Saturday in Iowa City, Iowa.
The Hawkeyes (12-2, 2-1 Big Ten Conference) deluged the Bruins early, going on a 14-1 run midway through the first half that gave Iowa a double-digit-point advantage going into the second half.
The Hawkeye advantage swelled to 18 points by intermission and 21 the first few minutes after the break, but UCLA (10-4, 2-1) battled back with an 18-2 run.
