'Mamdani's victory reflects a growing grassroot movement' in the US

Zohran Mamdani was sworn in as New York City's new mayor after his surprise election in November 2025. The 34-years-old was elected on his promise to tackle the city's cost-of-living issues and make it more affordable for its residents. His victory reflects and 'will stimulate a growing grassroot movement for these bread-and-butter issues' as well as opposition to US President Donald Trump Reed Brody, former New York Assistant Attorney General and human rights lawyer, told FRANCE 24 during the inauguration.
