1 km-long solar fence at Chandil range to keep elephants at bay
Chandil forest officials have installed solar fences in Jamshedpur to prevent elephant herds from entering villages, successfully averting crop damage and minimizing risks to human lives. Following a pilot project's encouraging results, a 27-km stretch will be fenced, covering villages prone to elephant attacks. This initiative aims to deter elephants with mild, non-lethal shocks and alert forest guards.
