On Jan. 6 at 7:47 p.m., the National Weather Service in Los Angeles issued a red flag warning for strong winds that could create dangerous situations. Damaging winds of 50 to 80 mph swept across the region, with some areas that saw winds of 80 to 100 mph. Less than 24 hours later, two of the most destructive fires in the history of Los Angeles County were ignited. (enlarge)
