US Park Police officer critically injured after being struck on BW Parkway

A U.S. Park Police officer sustained critical injuries after being hit by a car early Saturday on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

An official with knowledge of the incident but who asked to remain anonymous told WTOP that the severity of the officer’s injuries prompted first responders to transport him by helicopter to a local hospital.

The circumstances of the incident remain unclear, although WTOP was informed that the officer was hit while “in the performance of his duties.”
