Thunderstorms with damaging winds in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties Thursday – gusts may reach 60 mph

San Mateo and Santa Clara counties are the focus of a severe thunderstorm warning issued at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday by the National Weather Service. The warning is in effect until 7 p.m.

Residents should be prepared for wind gusts of up to 60 mph.

“At 6:35 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Stanford, or over Palo Alto, moving northeast at 50 mph,” according to the NWS San Francisco CA. “Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.”
