Thunderstorms with pea-sized hail in Eastern Santa Monica Mountains Recreational area and San Fernando Valley Thursday

Eastern Santa Monica Mountains Recreational area and San Fernando Valley are under a weather alert for strong thunderstorms by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 9:04 a.m. The alert is in effect until 9:30 a.m.

The storms may bring wind gusts of up to 55 mph and pea-sized hail (0.25 inches).

“At 9:03 a.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm over Topanga State Park, or near Woodland Hills, moving northeast at 20 mph,” the NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA said. “Gusty winds...
