High wind warning issued for Los Angeles County until Thursday afternoon – wind gusts reaching 70 mph

Los Angeles County is the focus of a high wind warning issued at 3:18 a.m. on Thursday by the National Weather Service. The warning is in effect until 3 p.m.

The NWS Los Angeles/Oxnard CA adds to prepare for, “South to southeast winds 30 to 50 mph with damaging gusts up to 70 mph likely, except up to 80 mph in the mountains and foothills.”

“Damaging winds are likely with this powerful Atmospheric River storm, with widespread downed trees and powerlines likely, as well as the potential for power outages and property damage.
