Pete Alonso breaks New York Mets home run record, passes Darryl Strawberry

NEW YORK (PIX11) — The Polar Bear has officially climbed to the top of the New York Mets' home run mountain.

Pete Alonso slugged his 253rd career home run in a Mets uniform on Aug. 12 against the Atlanta Braves in the third inning. Darryl Strawberry's all-time record of 252 home runs stood for 35 years before Alonso passed him.
