A fleeting 'ghost island' emerged in the Caspian Sea off Azerbaijan's coast in January 2023, born from the Kumani Bank underwater mud volcano. Reaching 1,300 feet across by February 2023, this temporary landmass, formed by mud and water, quickly eroded.
