DC Open comeback ends early for Venus Williams after 16-month hiatus

Venus Williams returned to professional tennis at the DC Open. She won her first singles match since 2023, becoming the oldest player to win a tour-level match since Martina Navratilova. Williams lost in the second round to Magdalena Frech. She also played doubles, winning her first match with partner Hailey Baptiste. The pair lost in the second round.
