Pursuit, crash, officer-involved shooting in Columbia County

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A high-speed pursuit and crash left a wanted suspect dead in what the Columbia County Sheriff's Office said was an officer-involved shooting on Sunday afternoon.

The chase began around 2:30 p.m. with deputies in pursuit of a driver "who had previously eluded law enforcement in Washington," Sheriff Brian Pixley said in a release.

The driver fled from deputies, but crashed down an embankment in the Deer Island area and died at the scene.
