China probes Wuhan ex-mayor who presided over Covid-19 response
Chinese authorities have initiated an investigation into Zhou Xianwang, the former mayor of Wuhan, on suspicion of "serious violations of disciplines and laws," a common euphemism for corruption. Zhou, who served as Wuhan's top official from 2018 to 2021 and played a significant role during the initial Covid-19 outbreak, is now undergoing disciplinary review.
