80pc of rescue operation complete as death toll from Lyari building collapse rises to 19

Rescue teams pulled more bodies from the rubble of a five-storey building collapse in Karachi overnight, taking the toll on Saturday to 19 as the recovery continued for a second day with eighty per cent of the operation completed.

South Deputy Commissioner (DC) Javed Nabi Khoso told Dawn.com: “Eighty per cent [of the] rescue operation has been completed and it is still ongoing.”

He added that there were “19 confirmed deaths and 13 injured” so far in the incident.
