North India’s summers are turning wetter and more humid, while monsoons grow weaker and hotter
Northwest India is experiencing a significant climate shift, with hotter Aprils and increased pre-monsoon rainfall. May rainfall has jumped nearly 50% since 1950. Simultaneously, the monsoon season is weakening, bringing less rain and higher temperatures in July, August, and September. This transformation leads to a longer, more humid summer, impacting agriculture, public health, and increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.
