Middle East conflict stalls 1 lakh tonnes of India’s basmati rice exports to Iran

Around 100,000 tonnes of basmati rice shipments destined for Iran are stuck at Indian ports due to the Israel-Iran conflict disrupting maritime logistics. The All India Rice Exporters Association (AIREA) reports that lack of vessels and insurance are hindering exports, causing basmati rice prices to drop by ₹4–₹5 per kg.
