In a recent ruling, the Karnataka High Court has drawn a distinction between share purchase agreements (SPAs) and shareholders' agreements (SHAs), noting that only a dispute pertaining to the latter can be heard in the speedier commercial courts because it qualifies as a “commercial dispute” under the Commercial Courts Act.
