Oregon family rescued after 'dangerous situation' on river
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A family of four was rescued by a marine patrol team from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office after their boat became "disabled" on Friday morning.
Authorities responded to a distress call just after 10 a.m. after a Redmond family's boat was taking on water where the Deschutes River meets the Metolius River at Lake Billy Chinook.
"(The family) was unsure how long they could stay afloat. Thought they had life jackets, the rising water created an urgent and dangerous situation," officials said.
