Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman and her husband were killed in a suspected politically motivated shooting, with another senator injured.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz confirmed the tragic shooting of Melissa Hortman, the senior Democratic representative in the state legislature, and her husband on Saturday morning. Walz stated that the attack appeared to have a “political motive.”

In a related incident, the assailant also targeted Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his wife.
