BJP names Kanad Purkayastha its candidate for Assam RS polls

The BJP has nominated Kanad Purkayastha, the party's Assam state secretary and son of former Union minister Kabindra Purkayastha, as its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election in Assam. Elections for two Rajya Sabha seats are scheduled for June 19. The BJP will contest one seat, while its ally, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), will contest the other.
