Are Dollar Stores the New Status Symbol? Wealthy Shoppers Think So

If you think dollar stores are just for bargain hunters on a budget, think again. An unexpected wave of high-income shoppers is now fueling a boom at Dollar Tree and Dollar General, and it may say more about the state of American spending habits than you think.

According to executives at both chains, shoppers earning over $100,000 a year are walking through their doors more than ever, Yahoo Finance reported. “Higher-income customers have been a meaningful growth driver for us,” said Dollar Tree CEO Michael Creedon.
